Our team is made up of Medical Referral Coordinators, Nurse Case Managers, Inuktitut speaking Medical Interpreters, Health Records and Finance staff which allows us to provide quality care to our patients in a timely manner. Each group works together to ensure that all of our patients’ needs are met when they are in Ottawa.
We have 6 full time registered nurses that work closely with the medical team both in Ottawa and Nunavut which ensures our patients receive the best care possible. The case managers ensure our patients’ needs are met while receiving medical care in Ottawa.
Our medical interpreters are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week to provide translation services for our patients.
The referral coordinators are responsible for processing all of the referrals received from the medical team and booking all appointments in a timely manner for patients to receive care in Ottawa.
Interpreter Scheduling Supervisor
Our Scheduling Coordinator takes on the task of organizing our interpreters to attend daily appointments with patients.
To ensure continuum of care for our patients, we have a dedicated medical records clerk that sends all of the pertinent patient information to the medical team in the North.
Our Bookkeeper works closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Director making sure that OHSNI/OBNHS maintains their yearly budget, completing payroll, maintaining staff information and all other financial duties.
The Office Coordinator ensures that all teams within OHSNI/OBNHS have all of the tools necessary to do their job effectively. Her goal is to make sure the office is running smoothly at all times.
Specialty Clinic Coordinator
Our Specialty Clinic Coordinator is responsible for creating the annual physicians schedule in collaboration with the Specialty Clinic manager in Iqaluit. The coordinator ensures the physicians are licensed annually, and all travel arrangements are coordinated prior to the clinic date.

Alison has been in the position of office coordinator for the last 2 years. Previously, she worked with both the general adult and pediatric, adult oncology and OBS caseload as a referral coordinator. Alison has been with OHSNI/OBNHS for 11 years.
Charlene is our bookkeeper and she is responsible for ensuring the day to day financial matters are completed. She works closely with Judy and the Board of Directors. Charlene has been with the OHSNI/OBNHS team for a year previously working in the private sector.
Judy has been with OHSNI/OBNHS since June 2014. Judy had been on the Board of Directors of OHSNI for 10 years prior to this. Some of Judy’s background has been in acute care at several Ottawa hospitals, Kingston and VON Canada prior to coming to OHSNI/OBNHS.
Kimberly is our Interpreter Scheduling Supervisor. She is responsible for booking our interpreters to attend daily appointments with patients as well as booking appointments for patients currently in Ottawa. Before she took on the role of scheduling supervisor, she worked on the pediatric, adult oncology and OBS case load, processing referrals and booking appointments.
Lori has been the specialty clinic coordinator for the last 5 years. When she originally joined the team, she was the office coordinator. Lori now works in a part time position ensuring the needs of the physicians and specialty clinics are achieved.
Patrick has been with OHSNI/OBNHS for several years and is responsible for ensuring the medical teams in the North get the discharge paperwork for all of the patients in a timely manner. Prior to coming to OHSNI/OBNHS, Patrick worked in the health records department at CHEO.
Sarah is the referral coordinator for the pediatric and OBS caseload. Previously, she worked directly with the general adult case load. Sarah has been with OHSNI/OBNHS for 2 years.
Shelley is the Quality Manager who is responsible for ensuring each patient’s discharge summary is completed and sent to the medical team in the North. She has been at OHSNI/OBNHS for several years and prior to coming to OHSNI/OBNHS she worked at the Civic hospital on a busy thoracic unit.
Cheryl is the referral coordinator for the general adult case load and she works closely with Charlotte Northrope. She has experience working with the pediatric case load as well. Cheryl has been part of the OHSNI/OBNHS team for just over a year.
Leslee works with Marta McLean on the pediatric and OBS caseload case managing both inpatients and outpatients. Leslee has been with OHSNI/OBNHS for several years. Prior to coming to OHSNI/OBNHS Leslee worked as a manager of a children’s treatment center in Ottawa.
Christina is the referral coordinator for the adult oncology caseload. Previously, Christina was the interpreter scheduling coordinator before taking on this new role. She has been part of the OHSNI/OBNHS team for 2 years.
Gabrielle works with the entire adult oncology caseload and follows both the inpatients and outpatients. She has been with OHSNI/OBNHS for a couple of years. Prior to coming to OHSNI/OBNHS Gabrielle worked for Homecare in Iqaluit.
Charlotte is a referral coordinator and she works closely with Cheryl on the adult general case load. Charlotte started working at OHSNI/OBNHS in September 2017.
Marta works alongside Leslee Nizman to cover the pediatric caseload. Marta has been with OHSNI/OBNHS for several years. Prior to coming to OHSNI/OBNHS Marta worked as a staff nurse at CHEO.
Emma is a casual referral coordinator who assists with office duties and replacing other referral coordinators when they are away.
Samantha works with Denise Romero to cover the general adult case load and recently joined OHSNI/OBNHS in March. Prior to coming to OHSNI/OBNHS Samantha worked in a travel clinic and a dental office.
Denise recently joined the OHSNI/OBNHS team in June 2017 and has been working on the adult caseload ever since. Denise came from the Qikiqtani General Hospital in Iqaluit where she worked as a staff nurse.
